Water from snow

When it is a winter with snow, and you are in a situation where running water is not available in your building, it is a custom to ‘harvest’ water from what has fallen outside.

Please, so not eat snow.  Do not just melt it and drink it.  There are ways of using the snow for drinking and washing water, but to do so directly is not just cliche, it is dangerous.

Skirt Camping

Skirt Camping

There are some of us who go camping in skirts. Even the men.

Recreation groups, such as Civil War Reenactment and The Society for Creative Anachronism often have their gatherings at campgrounds and parks. This means that those with characters or personae that would wear skirts in everyday life do so. How do I make a fire?

First, you need something that will burn. A cord of seasoned wood would be nice, but most of the time when you are making a fire while camping, you have to gather fuel from fallen limbs, underbrush and weeds. At least you should. A Camping Checklist

We go camping often (as possible) and I still need the checklist to get everything, and everybody, into the van. Without lists, sometimes things get left behind. On occasion, people, too.
